Evo is a great time of year for fighting game fans. Each year, the best of the best come together to face each other in tournaments on all your favorite fighting games. The likes of Tekken 7, Street Fighter 5 and Super Smash Bros all feature. A new entry into this year’s event was Dragon Ball FighterZ. Alongside all the tournaments and showboating, however, we typically receive a bunch of new announcements. Indeed, following on from the… bizarre announcement of The Walking Dead’s Negan coming to Tekken 7 is a bit of news regarding FighterZ. Cooler is on the way as a new fighter Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC.
The ludicrously flashy Dragon Ball fighting game has won the world over thanks to its slick gameplay and lush visuals that look as though they are lifted straight from the show. Since its launch, Bandai Namco has been adding pairs of DLC fighters to the roster. Base Goku and Vegeta are on their way on August 8. During a new trailer showcasing even more of these fighters’ capabilities was a sneaky announcement of Cooler.
You can watch the trailer, which includes footage of Frieza’s brother below. Spoilers, he looks bad-ass:
For the unaware, Cooler is Frieza’s older brother, and never appeared in the anime or manga. Indeed, he was a villain in a couple of the movies of the 1990s. He’s a memorable villain for those who have seen the non-canon movies. A vicious fighter, he holds his defeated foes up in the air by their necks. Sadly, no release date was given for the Dragon Ball FighterZ Cooler DLC. We have no idea when he’s coming, but we’d guess at least before 2018 comes to an end. Who will Cooler be paired with? We can’t help but hope for Master Roshi or Hercule.
Despite the fact that Cooler is, um, cooler than Frieza, the lack of Master Roshi, Hercule and Raditz is still disturbing. Are you happy with Cooler? What fighters would you like to see hit Dragon Ball FighterZ DLC? Let us know in the comments.
