In a surprise, Epic Games has teased a Fortnite Dragon Ball crossover with a release date of August 16. This ends months of rumors that the event was actually going to happen, and while the only thing the developer has revealed is an image on its official Twitter account, it has made all of the prior leaks far more credible than before.

Any Dragon Ball fan will be able to identify Shenron in the image above as the supernatural dragon that appears after all seven Dragon Balls on Earth are brought together. The dragon is shown in its golden form, as if it were just summoned, looming over the Reality Tree that stands in the current Fortnite map. The caption of “Speak. Name your wish.” alludes to the usual words uttered by the dragon to the one who conjures him.
Epic Games has not provided any other information, but prior leaks and datamines of the game reveal that Goku, Vegeta, and Beerus will likely make an appearance. A fourth character skin will be available as well, and it’s expected to be a female character like Bulma, Pan, or Videl. A white texture file was also deduced as coinciding with Attack Balls, otherwise known as Round Spaceships in the anime, that could be a cosmetic option for gliders. Also, an update on Fortnite Creative for a new Stamina Prop had the appearance of a Capsule Corp item.
Given that we’ve already had a Naruto crossover in Fortnite, Epic Games may have more anime crossovers in the future after this Dragon Ball event. The developer sent out a survey to fans last year that included options for crossovers for numerous animes including One Piece, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Spy X Family, Bleach, and Jujutsu Kaisen. That said, rumors of a Fortnite Dragon Ball event were almost rebuffed when Epic Games released an Anime Legends Pack that didn’t have any Dragon Ball characters at all.
In other news, a new overview trailer for Kirby’s Dream Buffet has revealed details on multiplayer and gameplay, and the runtime for She-Hulk Episode 1 has been revealed ahead of the show’s Disney Plus premiere.
