EGX 2018: Nintendo Reveals First-Party Lineup Playable on Show Floor

Nintendo has become the latest video game developer to confirm its attendance at EGX 2018, and it has revealed what upcoming games it plans to show off at the UK event. The Japanese gaming giant will bring its first-party lineup of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu and Eevee!, and Super Mario Party, according to EGX’s official site. EGX 2018 attendees will be the first European-based gamers to get hands-on with Nintendo’s upcoming slate ahead of their respective releases.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is the latest edition in the long-running Nintendo franchise. Players can select from 67 different characters, including newcomers such as Ridley, King K. Rool and more, to battle it out on a variety of stages. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will release on Nintendo Switch on December 7. Super Mario Party will make its UK debut at EGX 2018. Visitors will be able to try out a number of the game’s mini-games as they compete to try and win the Toad Cup, and see what differs from previous iterations of the Mario Party brand. Super Mario Party will be the first of the three titles to drop on Nintendo Switch on October 5.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! are re-imaginings of Pokémon Red and Blue for Nintendo’s Switch console. Players will travel around the world of Kanto, with either Pikachu or Eevee in tow, as they look to become the greatest Pokémon trainer of all-time. EGX attendees will have the chance to play through the Viridian Forest section of the game to see how it plays. Both versions of Pokémon: Let’s Go will be available to buy or download on November 16.

Finally, EGX 2018 will host the latest qualifier in the Splatoon 2 UK Championship 2018 Octo League on Saturday, September 22. Nintendo is currently accepting pre-registration for teams of four or five. Teams wanting to take part must send an email here to express their interest, provide team names and teammate tags before the event.
