Ubisoft has found a whole lot of success over the past few years thanks to its increasingly popular Assassin's Creed franchise. In fact, the latest entry in the series has already surpassed 7 million in sales. As such, news that Ubisoft is expanding its development efforts into the United Arab Emirates should hardly come as a surprise.
According to a job listing for an art director, the new studio is called Ubisoft Abu Dhabi and is currently comprised of 25 employees. There are plans to expand in the future, with the team aiming to reach 100 strong in the next three to five years.
“Ubisoft Abu Dhabi studio has committed to Ubisoft’s global goal to strive for excellence, its focus is to develop worldwide leading online games as well as enter the online MENA market; all in one,” the post explains.
Former HR director at Ubisoft Shanghai, Yannick Theler, will serve as the studio's managing director.
