Assassin’s Creed Mirage Is the ‘Biggest New Gen’ Launch for Ubisoft

Released one week ago, Assassin’s Creed Mirage represents something of a return to form for the adventure/stealth series. In fact, it looks as though this is the biggest release under the AC name for a long time.

Ubisoft “thrilled” with all the positivity

In a recent post on Twitter/X, Ubisoft made a comment about how there’s been a lot of “love” and feedback since Assassin’s Creed Mirage dropped. Amidst all this thanking, the message reads that this latest installment is the “biggest New Gen launch” for the company in terms of sales.

Being the 13th major entry in the series, Mirage is a continuation of one of Ubisoft’s most lucrative brands. While there have been plenty of ups and downs (mainly downs in recent years), this new Assassin’s Creed seems to be doing well so far.

The tweet also shares some achievements from those who’ve been playing the game recently. For example, players have amassed 60 million Leaps of Faith, have petted 1.2 million street cats, and have spent 479 million years parkouring across the rooftops.

Taking place in Baghdad in the 9th century, Mirage follows the story of street thief Basim Ibn Ishaq. It’s described as a “coming-of-age” tale in which Ishaq must learn to fight for something larger than himself.

It’s currently receiving pretty decent reviews, with the game showing a Metacritic score of 77, though it has a more mixed fan score of 6.6.

As well as being on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, Assassin’s Creed Mirage is also due to be released on the new iPhone 15 Pro. Along with mobile ports of Resident Evil Village, this is meant to represent a new era of phone technology, allowing for AAA gaming on the go.
