Borderlands 2 VR has just been announced for PSVR (PlayStation VR.) It is unknown at present as to whether Gearbox Software’s popular title will be coming to other Virtual Entertainment systems, like the Oculus Rift or the HTC Vive, as the announcement specifically coincides with the upcoming second anniversary of PSVR.
The announcement was made on the official Borderlands Twitter page, which posted the following message:
For the first time ever, physically immerse yourself in the mayhem-filled world of Borderlands! Borderlands 2 VR arrives Dec 14!

The tweet featured a link to PlayStation.blog, which elaborated further on the announcement. The same developers from the original version of the game will be working on transposing it to the VR medium. For the first time in VR, players will be facing off against Handsome Jack, “the galaxy’s most charming psychopathic dictator,” with nothing but “an arsenal of 87 bazillion guns.”
Borderlands 2 VR has already gotten a release date, too. The game is set to launch on December 14, 2018, and fans can place their pre-orders over at the PlayStation Store now.
Until then, PSVR players can make use of the many titles that are included in the PlayStation VR Anniversary sale that launches today and is set to run until October 23. If you haven’t yet purchased PSVR, there’s no better time to make the investment than now. Again, at present, Borderlands 2 VR has only been confirmed for PSVR, but could well be announced for other systems at a later date—potentially even for the new Nintendo Switch headset that’s currently being produced.
In other news, David Lynch is all set to bring fans to the Red Room, as a Twin Peaks VR title is apparently in the works now, too.
