Players are still enjoying Destiny 2 a year later thanks to the Forsaken expansion, and there are plenty of new, powerful weapons to loot. One of the best handguns in the game is the Luna’s Howl Legendary Hand Cannon, but to get it you’ll need to complete the Destiny 2 Pain and Guilt quest. But how do you do it, and what else do you need to do? How do you get Luna’s Howl? We’ll show you.
How to Complete Destiny 2 Pain and Guilt
Pain and Guilt is a Crucible quest, and it’s part of the “Remembrance” quest line you get from Shaxx. The main goal of Pain and Guilt is to get 150 kills using hand cannons during Crucible matches in the Competitive playlist. It’s a simple objective, but it’s hard to pull off. There are several things you need to know, other than the kills have to be in Crucible matches, which themselves have to be from the Competitive playlist. The good news is that you don’t have to use a hand cannon exclusively, but you do have to deal the finishing blow with one.
Try and get the kills before reaching too high of a Glory level, otherwise your opponents will get much harder to face. Use gear with perks that help with aiming or hand cannons specifically, but of course remember you only need to finish off opponents with a hand cannon, you can use any other weapon to weaken them. Other than that, you’ll just need to practice your aiming, and be patient!
What Else Do You Need to Get Luna’s Howl?
There are six other quests you’ll need to complete before you can get Luna’s Howl, and while Pain and Guilt can be the most difficult of the lot (especially if you’re not used to playing with hand cannons) the other missions can be just as troublesome. The first in the questline from Shaxx is called Shock and Denial, and you’ll need to complete this one before you take on Pain and Guilt. Fortunately it’s the simplest: just compete in 10 Crucible matches in the Competitive playlist, you don’t even have to win them.
After Pain and Guilt is Anger and Bargaining (yes, we’re going through all the stages of grief), and once again we’re heading back to that Competitive playlist. It’s similar to Pain and Guilt, except the killing blow has to be with a Solar weapon or attack, and you’ll have to get 200 kills with Solar final blows. The next stage is Depression and Loneliness, which fortunately is far more simple: you just need to complete three Crucible matches in the Rumble playlist.
The next part, The Upward Turn, is arguably the hardest in the questline. It’s essentially the same as Pain and Guilt, in that you have to get hand cannon kills in the Competitive playlist. Except now you have to get 200 kills… and they have to be headshot kills, or specifically “precision final blows.” Hopefully you got enough practice with hand cannons on the Pain and Guilt part!
After this is Reconstruction, which requires you to reach the Glory rank “Fabled” which you should probably be well on your way to by this point. For reference, the Glory levels are Guardian, Brave, Heroic, then Fabled (after this is Mythic and Legend, but we don’t need to go that far). After this the final questline, which is of course titled Acceptance, is to simply return to Shaxx for your reward: the Luna’s Howl Legendary Hand Cannon!
What is Luna’s Howl Legendary Hand Cannon?
The Luna’s Howl hand cannon is an incredibly powerful and useful weapon, with a lot of weapon mod possibilities. By the time you get it you should be an expert in using hand cannons, so you’ll light up opponents with it. It has multiple perks:
- Precision Frame: Intrinsic perk. The recoil pattern is more predictably vertical. Fires quickly with high accuracy.
- Polygonal Rifling: Recoil reduction and increased stability.
- Drop Mag: Reload speed is greatly increased, but a magazine drops when you reload, which can waste ammo.
- Zen Moment: Causing damage with this weapon increases its stability.
- Magnificent Howl: Get two precision shots in quick succession and you’ll get bonus damage until your next kill or miss.
- Tracker Disabled: No tracker is displayed.
- Kill Tracker: Tracks the number of enemies you killed with the hand cannon.
- Crucible Tracker: Tracks the number of Crucible opponents you defeated with it.
