Star Wars Battlefront 2 may be a year old, and its successor Battlefield 5 may have just launched, but developer DICE isn’t ready to abandon the online Star Wars shooter just yet. The new set of DLC based on The Clone Wars CGI TV show kicked off last month with the release of Separatist droid leader General Grievous as a playable villain, and now EA has announced that next week players will get a new hero too: Star Wars Battlefront 2 Obi-Wan Kenobi will arrive on November 28.
DICE detailed how Star Wars Battlefront 2 Obi-Wan Kenobi will play in one of their “community transmissions” for Battlefront 2. Obi-Wan is a “master of defensive lightsaber combat,” which basically means that his blocking skills are superior to any other lightsaber-wielder in the game. He can block and deflect more shots, and his stamina pool is increased so he can use his lightsaber for longer.
Beyond that, he has three special Force abilities. “All-Out Push” sends a blast of Force energy out in front of him, sending any enemies flying. With “Defensive Rush” the Jedi charges forward, swinging his lightsaber and deflecting any shots aimed at him. Finally, “Restrictive Mind Trick” stops enemies in front of Kenobi from using any of their abilities, including dodge rolls. He has two character skins based on his appearance in Revenge of the Sith, basically with or without the cloak. He’s voiced by James Arnold Taylor, who played him in the Clone Wars cartoons.
Additionally, launching for free alongside Old Ben is a brand new multiplayer map, the Battle of Geonosis. This was the big battle at the end of Attack of the Clones that launched the Clone Wars and proved that Yoda was a bad-ass.
