Firewatch Nintendo Switch Release Date Announced

Firewatch Switch Version Release Date Announced

Campo Santo has revealed the date that its indie hit Firewatch will be coming to Nintendo’s portable console hybrid. The Firewatch Switch port will hit America, Europe, Australia, and Japan on December 17.

The official Campo Santo Twitter account broke the news alongside a teaser video of someone playing Firewatch by a fire on a Nintendo Switch console. The game will only be available on the Nintendo Switch eShop with no physical release as of yet.

Further down the Twitter thread, developer Campo Santo also confirmed the free roam mode will be included in the Firewatch Switch release. It also says that the team is all working on In The Valley of Gods over at Valve, which it joined earlier this year, but doesn’t have anything to share at this time.

Firewatch was originally released across the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC back in 2016 and announced earlier this year that it would be getting a Switch release. The Firewatch Nintendo Switch version was meant to be out in spring 2018 which seemed devilishly fast given the April announcement.

If the statements made during that initial announcement hold true, the Firewatch Switch release should be a much faster and more responsive build. Hopefully, the extra time required to make this release only adds to the level of polish on this already very well received game.

We gave the initial release a 4.5 out of 5 rating and gave it kudos for its beautiful natural environments, phenomenal voice work, and compelling tale which was centered on inaction and helplessness.

You may find that Steam reviews don’t quite replicate this notion though as Firewatch was review bombed in September 2017 after a DMCA claim was filed against popular YouTube personality PewDiePie.
