The latest chapter of Dead by Daylight, Darkness Among Us, will be out next week. The new DLC will include a new map, killer, and survivor. Dedicated servers are also on the horizon.
Providing details in a press release, the killer in this chapter of the game will be a human, which is a first for the series. In this chapter players will encounter a group of four friends who become killers, collectively calling themselves The Legion. Players will be able to choose from four characters who will be able to obtain a new power called Feral Frenzy.
Jeff Johansen is the survivor of this chapter. He led a quiet life until his father passed away, now he’s coping with a troubled past. His part of the game will take place on a map based on Canada, in a ski town called Ormond. It’s also home to a graveyard where both gangs and teenagers are ready to look for trouble to get into.
The developers at Starbreeze are also set to bring in dedicated servers to Dead by Daylight, a big change from the peer-to-peer network that the game currently hosts. This is set to happen by the end of next summer.
“This has been the number one request from the community and we are excited to finally be able to make this announcement,” said Mathieu Côté, the game’s director, in the press release. “We are also happy to announce that our team of programmers has already done a first successful internal test back in November. We still have a long way to go before fully migrating to dedicated servers and will keep you posted on our milestones as we progress.”
Releasing back in 2016, Dead by Daylight has gotten positive, albeit often mixed reviews since its launch. It currently boasts a 71 rating on Metacritic.
The new DLC will be available for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on December 11. Check out the trailer below:
