“A Few More Days” of PSN Downtime

Sony's been keeping relatively quiet regarding the PlayStation Network security breach, providing few updates from the original timeline estimates — timelines that they didn't deliver on. Likely fearful of making more empty promises, Sony is being rather vague in their latest update, saying that it will be "at least a few more days".

Patrick Seybold, Sr. Director of Corporate Communications and Social Media made a quick statement on the official PlayStation.Blog earlier today:

I know you all want to know exactly when the services will be restored. At this time, I can’t give you an exact date, as it will likely be at least a few more days. We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through this process.

It was originally said that services would begin to be restored last Tuesday. Then Sony Online Offline Entertainment realized that their accounts had been compromised, too. A report from Bloomberg cited a Sony exec saying that it could take until the end of May to get everything back up and running.

At this point, is it better for Sony to just say "We have no idea when the PlayStation Network will return"? Or should they continue with these more frequent disappointing updates giving false hope at a timely return?
