The Resident Evil 2 remake has given us a new look at the survival horror classic, with new detailed graphics, behind-the-shoulder camera, and more. A fan of the game, however, has done some digging in its code and has found a Resident Evil 2 Chris Redfield playable character model. Read on to discover what the hidden Resident Evil 2 Chris Redfield character model might be used for.
Resident Evil 2 Chris Redfield character model
Chris Redfield is not in Resident Evil 2 remake. He wasn’t in the original (except for Extreme Battle Mode in the Dual Shock version) and isn’t in the remake. Or at least, he shouldn’t be. Thanks to the Resident Evil Modding Community forums, however, we know that there is a hidden Chris Redfield playable character model in Resident Evil 2 remake.
The character model appears to be based on his one used in Resident Evil 7, however. This could mean that it was used as something of a test for lighting, gameplay, and whatnot. There could be another, potentially more exciting, use for Chris’ character model, though.
Could Resident Evil 2 Chris Redfield DLC be on the way?
There could be any number of reasons why there’s a Chris Redfield playable character model hidden within Resident Evil 2 remake’s code. While it seems likely that it is simply left over from internal testing, Capcom could yet decide to use Chris for more. His playable character model might be an accident in the code, waiting for a greater purpose. We could potentially see a Chris Redfield starring DLC Scenario. Stranger things have happened. File it under “not outside the realms of possibility” for now.
Whatever the case, you can play as Chris Redfield if you download the mod (can be found in the Modding Community link above). It’s clear the character model isn’t completely ready for the game, however. Those playing as Chris have noted that “when he puts his weapons away, they will just follow him on the ground.”
