The Xbox 720's controller will look a whole lot like the one you currently use to play your Xbox 360, according to a new report.
Unnamed sources have shared this nugget of information with Kotaku, telling the outlet that the new game pad will also feature similar analog sticks located in the same positions (top left and bottom right). The same goes for the button layout, with the four face buttons, the forward and back buttons, and the d-pad all in their normal places.
With regard to the quality of the d-pad or improvements to the triggers, the outlet couldn't comment. I don't know about you, but I'd be perfectly content with the Xbox 360 triggers, so long as the new controller has a better d-pad. The form factor will remain relatively unchanged, but the device will apparently be slightly smaller than the Xbox 360 controller.
Finally, I'm pleased to report that this new controller won't have any sort of touch pad or touch screen according to the outlet's sources. This is a huge draw for me, as both the Wii U and PS4 control options seem far too busy input-wise.
What do you think? Does the possibility of a very similar controller excite you or disappoint you? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
