Rage 2 Nintendo Switch Release Date

Rage 2 would probably be a good fit on the Switch thanks to the system’s hybrid design. Could you imagine playing a game like this on the bus? Unfortunately, the Switch simply lacks the horsepower required to run many of today’s more visually intensive games. We hate to be the bearers of bad news, but it seems unlikely that Rage 2 will ever come to the Nintendo Switch.

Thanks to Dualshockers, we know that id Software (or anyone else for that matter) isn’t working on a Rage 2 Switch port. However, id Software director Tim Willits explained that the company has looked into releasing the upcoming open-world shooter on Switch. Willits explains that it is the technology that’s holding a potential port back: “It’s just the technology, there are some challenges.”

Willits does add, however, that id Software “is always looking for future platforms and future people to work with.” While there are currently no plans for a Rage 2 Nintendo Switch version, you can’t write off the possibility of it appearing at some point in the future.

Other id Software games have released on the Switch to some success, with the upcoming Wolfenstein Youngblood and DOOM Eternal planned to launch on the console, too. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Rage 2 launch on the Switch eventually. For now, though, we’re afraid that you’ll have to put a Rage 2 Switch port on that pile of hopes and dreams you’ve been sitting on. Keep those fingers crossed, though, and who knows? Rage 2 may make its way onto the Switch eventually.

Of course, if Rage 2 does make its way onto Nintendo Switch, players should probably expect it to come with plenty of visual downgrades.
