Star Wars: The Old Republic Tackles Limited Character Options In 2.1 Update

If you've played Star Wars: The Old Republic you're likely aware of how bland its character creation is. The latest 2.1 update does something about that.

In the latest patch a variety of new character customization options have been added. Things such as new tattoos, hair styles, and complexions help break the mold since launch where it appears that everyone shares the same DNA. In an effort to not punish veteran plays for making their character years ago, an appearance designer kiosk has been added to major locations. You can tweak your physical look there; it's like a virtual plastic surgery market.

But BioWare didn't stop there. The Cathar race has been added to the game, a species of lion-like aliens. You might not be familiar with them since they weren't in any of the six major films, but they've existed in the novels and comics for years. If you enjoy looking like an 80s rockstar with long, lion's mane-style hair and a collage of facepaint then Cathar is an excellent choice.

Lastly, dyes have been added to the game. They allow flexibility in making you appear unique in a sea of polygons. Dyes can be crafted or purchased in the Cartel Market.
