E3 2019 | Gods and Monsters release date and trailer revealed

Gods and Monsters release date has been revealed, with the brand new game from the makers of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey being revealed at the Ubisoft E3 2019 event. The first trailer for the game was debuted during Ubisoft’s E3 press conference, with it depicting a female warrior taking on a giant enemy bird.

Gods and Monsters will release on February 25, 2020, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The short trailer was one of the videos that closed out the company’s E3 show, with it depicting a highly stylized, Breath of the Wild-esque world seemingly inspired by Ancient Greece.

The game sees players assuming the role of Phoenix, a heroine enlisted by the gods to help them take on Typhon. Set on the Island of the Blessed, the story is narrated by Homer, with it focusing heavily on Green mythology.

The brand new IP reportedly takes its cues from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in terms of its gameplay, with it headed up by the team responsible for the latest entry in the action franchise. However, Gods and Monsters will lean more into the realm of fantasy, with it featuring various monsters inspired by Greek mythology for players to take on.

The art style shares a lot of similarities with Breath of the Wild, with Ubisoft certainly appearing to have taken its cues from Nintendo’s modern classic. Players will embark on quests given out by NPCs, solve puzzles, and customize Phoenix to their heart’s content. RPG elements will allow players to give Phoenix new skills and abilities, such as the ability to double jump or make the player-character more powerful.

Gods and Monsters is set for release next year for the PS4, PC, Xbox One, and Google Stadia. Check out the trailer below:
