Back when Firaxis and 2K Games originally released XCOM: Enemy Unknown, I wrote that it "feels like the revival of not just a brand, but a genre," and that "anyone with even a passing interest in either strategy or sci-fi should take a look, lest E.T. make you his bitch."
Now I'm going to expand that and just say anyone with an iPhone or iPad (and there are a lot of you out there) should play this game, no questions asked. The mobile port of Enemy Unknown is out today and 2K Games released the trailer above to remind you how good it feels to take that elite sniper unit and blast some Mutons.
XCOM: Enemy Unknown is priced at $19.99, which sounds pretty steep for a mobile or tablet game, but it's also one of the deepest experiences you'll find in the App Store. I had these delusions that I'd write something on my way to an appointment in the city today, but now I know I'll be speccing out an early bug-squishing crew.
