Rick and Morty Season 4 split season has fans angry

The Rick and Morty Season 4 was finally announced, and some fans couldn’t be happier. It was a long time coming, with the final episode of season three airing on October 2017. The new season will premiere on Sunday, November 10 at 11:30 PM. Hearing Rick drop the “I always slay it, queen” line is going to become the highlight of the year for many Rick and Morty fans. However, people are greeting the announcement with mixed feelings due to the alleged skimpy number of episodes.

The Rick and Morty Season 4 announcement trailer ends with a “Five all new episodes” quote, with many viewers instantly panicking at the thought of such a brief season. With over a couple of years of intermission, is that all that Rick and Morty fans are getting? The end of the trailer adds to the confusion when the narrator says “Half the season you deserve, all the season we could handle.”

Rick and Morty Season 4

While there isn’t any official word from Adult Swim on the structure of the new season, everything seems to point to a regular 10-episode season that just happens to briefly pause during the holidays. This wouldn’t be something new to the series; a similar move happened with season one, as the series paused mid-December to return in January 2014. YouTube channel Emergency Awesome seems convinced that this is what the showrunners have in store, mentioning the holiday break and that the new season is comprised of 10 episodes at the 2:10 mark.

Even if for some unfathomable reason the Rick and Morty Season 4 turned out to be made up of only five episodes, it’s likely because of the team’s promise to not have huge gaps between seasons anymore or fall victim to the same self-destructive habits that have halted the series’ production in the past.
