Take-Two Hinting At Red Dead Redemption Sequel

How badly would you like to see a sequel to Red Dead Redemption? Probably not as much as Daniel, but that dude has a level of adoration for Rockstar's open-world western that borders on unhealthy.

The good news is that we'll probably be seeing a sequel at some point in the future, as Take-Two has made it clear that they plan to support their most successful IPs by making them "permanent" franchises.

During the company's investor call (via Videogamer) company CEO Strauss Zelnick made it clear that they're not in the business of simply making one hit wonders only to move on to something completely new.

Our goal is to try to create permanent franchises. That's the unique goal in the industry. Our competitors do not see it that way. Our competitors' view is that our franchise will have a certain life, and at the end of that life, you move onto the next thing, so you better make hay while the sun shines. Our view is to the contrary. The best franchises are permanent franchises.

Outside of our business you can look at James Bond, for example. And it's been our goal not just to preserve and grow the Grand Theft Auto franchise, but also to build other franchises that we think can be permanent, whether that's the Red Dead franchise or the Borderlands franchise or the BioShock franchise or others, Civilization, for example.

So there you go. It has been a few years since we all played Red Dead Redemption, so one would think the next title would at the very least be in pre-production. Would you like to see a followup to John Marston's epic tale? Sound off in the comments below and let us know.
