Cyberpunk 2077 romance confirmed to be similar to the Witcher 3

Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer is delayed until at least 2022

Those anticipating a visit to the world of Cyberpunk 2077 were devastated to hear of the game’s delay into September earlier this week. In a new Q&A, CD Project Red joint-CEO Adam Kiciński answered questions concerning the push for one of 2020’s most anticipated releases. Among the revelations were that Cyberpunk‘s multiplayer, a separate game that was to start development after the main game’s release, will also see a delay. “So, given the expected release of Cyberpunk 2077 in September and the series of events which we expect to occur after that date, 2021 appears unlikely as the release date for Cyberpunk Multiplayer.”

Cyberpunk was set to be the first of CD Projekt Red’s massive RPGs with a multiplayer component, although The Witcher did spawn a subset of spinoffs surrounding the Gwent card game. The multiplayer game is the only other focus at the developer, and work has already begun in parallel with this year’s single-player release. Despite that, it seems that the game will be an ambitious undertaking, as Adam confirmed that it won’t see release until at least 2022.

Elsewhere in the briefing, Kiciński confirms that it was a unanimous decision to delay the game across the studio. They confirm that the game is fully playable from start to finish at this time, but bugs and other complexities from the massive project are keeping developers busy. The studio feels confident after the experience they’ve gained from The Witcher series, and they’re not concerned about any date they set for Cyberpunk 2077. ” We believe that our game – deep single-player RPG with a nice story – will find its place on the market regardless of date.”

As of now, Cyberpunk 2077 will only be competing with the similarly delayed Marvel’s Avengers and Deep Silver strategy title Iron Harvest in September. However, you can expect many other releases to fill in the month as E3 and a new console generation approach.
