Call of Duty: Warzone free-to-play download | Is there a standalone launcher?

Call of Duty: Warzone free-to-play

Thanks to a Chaos video that has been re-uploaded by Mr. Ghost Gaming on YouTube, we know a lot about the incoming Call of Duty: Warzone. To answer the question above, though? Yes. It seems as though there will be a Call of Duty: Warzone free-to-play download. One would assume that this means it will have its own standalone launcher, too.

In the re-uploaded Chaos video (which we’ve embedded for you to watch at the end of this guide), Chaos claims that, yes, Warzone is a standalone free-to-play game. This is detailed towards the start of the video, around the 1:15 mark. You don’t need to own Modern Warfare to play Warzone. It’s free-to-play for everyone and you, therefore, will be able to download it separately on its available platforms.

Interestingly, Chaos claims that Warzone is cross-platform. This is for sure a nice bonus. The YouTuber adds, too, that if you play without owning Modern Warfare, you won’t have access to unlocked skins, custom guns, and other things such as this. As of writing, we cannot confirm what Chaos meant by this and we’ll have to wait for the new Call of Duty: Warzone game to release to learn more. What’s more, the new Gulag 1v1s coming to Warzone sounds interesting, too. We’ll find out more about the release of Warzone and its ties to Modern Warfare when the free-to-play battle royale game releases soon.

Update: Here are the official details from Activision:

For non-owners of the full version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Warzone will be available to download free in respective first-party stores starting as early as 12 PM PDT. Head to the store and search for ‘Warzone.’ Choose Call of Duty: Warzone to download. Warzone is a 83-101GB download for new, free-to-play users. Download could take up to several hours depending on bandwidth, service provider, additional regional factors and will vary by platform.
