An Animal Crossing: New Horizons delay is seemingly affecting Amazon buyers who placed their preorders with the online retailers. Some of those who placed Amazon preorders for the Nintendo Switch games are receiving messages with revised release dates, despite the game set for launch tomorrow.
Amazon is sending out emails to some users stating that the release date for Animal Crossing: New Horizons has changed, despite Nintendo having not verbalized any such alteration. A Game Revolution team member received a note stating that the new release date is set for Tuesday, March 24.

“We’re sorry to inform you that the release date for the item below has changed,” the message from Amazon reads. “The new delivery date is indicated below. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
The delay could be related to the recent news that Amazon is prioritizing its warehouse for vital resources, with the online retailer not accepting stock from third-party sellers that doesn’t fall within these boundaries. However, considering that Amazon would likely already have Animal Crossing: New Horizons stock prepared ahead of launch, it is also possible that it is struggling with the number of deliveries it is currently making.

It’s unclear just how many users are affected by this Animal Crossing: New Horizons delay. On the Animal Crossing subreddit, it seems that Amazon’s new revised release date is being sent out to many, even those who preordered the game a year in advance.
With many patiently waiting for the launch of the new Animal Crossing to tide them over while they are self-isolating, this last-minute delay is an unfortunate — though minor, all things considered — ramification of the ongoing global pandemic. Hopefully, the shipping date being sent out to those who preordered the game will stick, and Amazon will be able to distribute the game to buyers next week.
