Crysis Remastered Switch

Crysis Remastered isn’t Crysis 4 (but it’s still pretty cool)

A few days ago, we had hints that there would be a new Crysis game. Thanks to some keen-eyed folks, we’ve learned that it isn’t quite Crysis 4 — rather, we’ll be getting Crysis Remastered for the Nintendo Switch.

If you’re unfamiliar with Crysis, this game franchise was once lauded as the benchmark for high-end PC gaming. The ability to actually run the game could earn you major bragging rights. The developer Crytek is also known for the Cry Engine and starting another franchise you may have heard of called Far Cry.

Although Crysis was plenty fun as a game, one of the biggest selling points was inarguably its amazing graphical capabilities. The possibility of getting Crysis 4 in the era of the RTX 2080Ti is absolutely tantalizing, and I must confess that I’m a little disappointed that we’re just getting a remaster of the original game.

Crysis Remastered in 720p just won’t be the same

Note the information shared by @RobutBrush on Twitter: Not only is Crysis Remastered making its way to PC, it’s also coming to the PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch for the first time ever.

It’s certainly cool that a new generation of gamers will get to experience the gameplay of Crysis. I like graphics and story, too, but the gameplay is the most important thing to me and the Crysis franchise certainly delivers a fantastic first-person shooter experience.

However, that doesn’t change the fact that at least one console is going to lose out: the Nintendo Switch. Granted, today’s consoles are more powerful than the PCs from 2007 (when Crysis was first released), but the Remaster is surely beefing up the graphics to some degree.

Crysis Remastered in 720p on the Nintendo Switch just won’t be up to par. I’m sure it will look nice — there’s no doubt about that — but it just won’t be the same.
