Now that we know a lot more about what’s coming to the PS5, there are still a lot of questions surrounding the next-gen console, such as how much is a PS5 controller? In this guide, we’ll throw our hat into the ring and try to answer “how much does a DualSense cost?” Read on to find out how expensive we think a new DualSense controller should cost for your shiny, new, space-age PS5.
How much is a PS5 controller?
As of writing, Sony has not revealed how much a PS5 controller will cost. We’re expecting it to cost more than the DualShock 4, however. We can imagine that the PS5 controller will cost somewhere between $60-$70. This is pure guesswork on our end, however. As stated above, we don’t know how much the DualSense will cost as Sony is yet to reveal its price. Of course, we will update this guide with the correct price as and when it’s revealed.

A new console generation means new controllers, which are (nine times out of ten) more advanced than their predecessors. This, unfortunately, means a higher cost for us to pay. Given its various improvements over the DualShock 4, we can expect to pay more for the DualSense. Again, we’re imagining somewhere between $60-$70, perhaps a little more. We can’t see it being cheaper based on its list of improvements and features.
Below, is a list of features on the DualSense, all of which should add up to a hefty price for us to pay:
- 6 axis motion sensing
- Haptic feedback
- Works through Voice Coil actuators
- Better battery
- Improved speaker
- Microphone
- Adaptive triggers
- USB-C
- 3.5mm audio jack
Along with that, as far as we know, the DualSense shares the same buttons as the DualShock 4, but the Share button has been replaced with the Create button. All told, the DualSense is a feature-filled controller, and as such, will, unfortunately, cost a lot to buy.
