PS5 price, release date, and pre-order details rumored to be revealed soon

Sony finally revealed the PS5 box and a lineup of games coming to the system both at and sometime after its launch. However, the hardware maker left out two key pieces of information during that event: the PS5 price and release date. According to an industry insider, it looks like we are just on the cusp of getting both of those nuggets of information.

As noted by PlayStation Lifestyle, VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb tweeted out his Summer Game Fest schedule when Roberto Serrano sent a short but poignant reply.

According to his tweet, we will learn about the PS5 price, release date, and be able to pre-order on Monday, July 13. This slots it one day after the Ubisoft Forward event and a day before the Stadia Connect. Serrano was first correct in his PS5 reveal conference date, pegging it would be on June 11 before it officially unveiled. He has also been tweeting proposed release dates and prices of both consoles.

Of course, none of this is confirmed as Sony (nor Microsoft) has not hinted at any of this. Grubb himself, a noted industry insider, also did not corroborate Serrano’s claims. Serrano did state that we should know by July 13. But, again, no one else has backed him up (at least yet).

Whatever the case, pre-orders will likely have to go live somewhat soon, which would also lead to revealing at least the price and the price and date at most. PS4 pre-orders went live after Sony’s E3 2013 press conference in June, but the release date wasn’t revealed until a few months later in August.
