The PS5 DualSense controller was featured in a hands-on hosted by Summer Game Fest organizer Geoff Keighley today, with viewers getting a first look at how the new PS5 controller will impact next-gen games. This includes, but is not limited to, blowing into the controller.
During the hands-on stream, Keighley revealed a few features making their way to the PS5 DualSense controller. This includes being able to blow into the controller to interact with in-game objects.
Keighley revealed this feature during a brief demo of Astro’s Playroom, the pack-in game that will come pre-installed on each PS5. Keighley revealed that by blowing into the PS5’s DualSense, he could control the direction of a spinning pinwheel in order to complete an objective.
The DualSense also improves a number of features introduced in the DualShock 4, such as its touchscreen middle button and controller audio. Keighley revealed how the middle button could also be used to interact with the game, demonstrating this by swiping to zip up Astro’s jacket. The DualSense’s improved audio was also revealed, showing how different audio elements came out of the controller’s speakers rather than the PS5.
