The full Modern Warfare Error Code 4 error message reads as follows:
“ERROR
You have been disconnected from the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare servers. Please try again or visit https://support.activision.com/mwstatus for updates.
Error Code: 4”
First things first, it’s a good idea to check the CoD: MW Online Services page as advised. If there are no known issues, then you’ll need to proceed with the following fix.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Error Code 4 fix
Follow these simple steps in order to address Modern Warfare Error Code 4 on PC:
- Close the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare application.
- Close the Battle.net Blizzard client.
- Open “File Explorer” from your desktop.
- Navigate to “Documents” via the sidebar.
- Locate and delete the “Call of Duty Modern Warfare” folder.
- Open Battle.net and run Modern Warfare.
The game should now work fine. Deleting the CoD: MW folder didn’t get rid of anything major — you don’t need to re-download files and your progress will remain intact.
