Figuring out how to assassinate from a horse in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla takes some intuitive thinking as the game doesn’t quite detail how to perform such a feat. Riding by someone while on the horse and hitting the attack button does nothing. And players wanting the “Equine Attack” trophy or achievement will want to know how to do this. To assassinate from a horse in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, get on a horse (hold in left on the D-pad to whistle for it and then wait for it to arrive). Crouch on the equestrian by pressing Circle on PlayStation and B on the Xbox systems. This is a key step that the game doesn’t explain to the player and why this can be hard to figure out.
Once crouched, creep up to an unsuspecting soldier (which might be easier if they are tagged). It is easier if they are standing still or slowly patrolling on an open road. Once close enough, the “Assassinate” prompt will show up as it does in the above picture. Press either R1 or the right bumper to get to killing and earn that trophy or achievement.
There are some caveats with this move. It is a little finicky so be sure the prompt shows up. Animals also can’t be assassinated. Guard that are also on horses can’t be assassinated either so don’t expect and jousting-like horse combat. There are few instances where this move is helpful, but it is worth it to know nonetheless.
