How to tag enemies in Assassin's Creed Valhalla

To tag enemies in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, players need to use the Odin’s Sense ability. This is activated by pressing and holding in the right stick for just a second. It sends out a pulse that marks chests, collectibles, mission objects, enemies, and any other important item worth examining. Once tagged, enemies will glow red and be visible through walls and floors even after the pulse effect subsides.

There is also an ability in the extensive skill tree worth one skill point called Stealth Recon. This special move on the blue side of the skill tree tags all enemies in the vicinity if Eivor remains undetected and is crouching. It’s useful for those who don’t want to constantly pulse to get a bead on the enemies. There aren’t any other tagging-related skills in the skill tree.

Sýnin, Eivor’s trusty bird, can tag enemies as well but not in a traditional way. Players can control Sýnin by pressing up on the D-pad and hover over an enemy until two arrows show up. Pressing the confirm button will place a marker on them. This is a little unwieldly, but it is still a method players can use.

The bird can’t highlight foes in the traditional way by flying up and aiming at the guards below. This used to be the way to mark enemies in Assassin’s Creed Origins and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but that is not the case anymore in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Sýnin is mainly used for spotting objectives and collectibles and not enemies unlike their two feathered predecessors.
