Grand Theft Auto V Moves 29 Million Units On Consoles Only

In an investor update today, video game publisher Take-Two Interactive Software has revealed that Grand Theft Auto V from Rockstar Games has done some bonkers numbers.

How bonkers you ask? Take-Two says that the game has "shattered entertainment industry records, and has already sold-in nearly 29 million units to date. The extraordinary success of Grand Theft Auto V illustrates the positive momentum in our business and consumers' enduring appetite for the highest-quality interactive entertainment."

Note that this does not mean that 29 million people have bought copies of Grand Theft Auto V, but that retailers have purchased that many units to sell-through to consumers. I expect some like GameStop and Best Buy have order more shipments to support Black Friday and holiday shoppers who don't care to look at ESRB rating information before getting the first item on little Timmy's Christmas list.

Now, in a perfect world this number would be made even larger thanks to the insatiable demand from PC gamers for Grand Theft Auto V, but there's yet to be any hard news about a PC release. We've heard rumors, but they place GTA V on PC as early as Spring 2014 at best.

I loved Grand Theft Auto V but did you? Sourdeez even bought a PS3 to get down on GTA and some Sony exclusives. How's the wait going for you PC gamers?
