The Falcon and The Winter Soldier episode 1 ending explained
Who is the new Captain America?
The new Captain America is John Walker, played by actor Wyatt Russell.
Despite the government promising that the Captain America suit and shield would be kept safe in the Captain America museum exhibit, at the end of the episode we see John Walker wearing the suit and smiling. This is the new Captain America… for now.
Sam doesn’t seem impressed with the new Cap and that animosity may turn into some form of physical conflict in the future.
John Walker also goes by U.S. Agent in the comics.
Why has Chris Evans been replaced?
Chris Evans’ Captain America went back in time and chose to grow old with his love, Peggy Carter. In the MCU, he is now an old man and his avenging days are over.
Chris Evans also has no contractual obligation to be in future Marvel shows. It’s possible that we will never again see Evans featured in a Marvel movie.
Who are the Flag Smashers?
The Flag Smashers are the main enemy group in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
As explained in the first episode, the Flag Smashers believe the world was better during The Blip, when half of the world’s population vanished. The leader clear has some kind of enhanced physique, dishing out powerful punches and kicks.
Why did Bucky kill Yori’s son?
Bucky killed Yori’s son because he was being controlled by Hydra. Yori’s son witnessed Bucky killing and so The Winter Soldier dealt with the witness.
Bucky now has a list of the people he has wronged and is looking to fix the mistakes he made. It seems like Bucky will eventually confess to Yori, as he almost does in this episode.
Is there a post-credits scene?
The Falcon and The Winter Soldier does not have a post-credits scene.
Once the new Captain America has been revealed, that is the true ending of episode 1.
