Marvel's Avengers roadmap 2021 revealed at Square Enix Presents spring

Marvel’s Avengers roadmap 2021: Hawkeye, Black Panther, Future Imperfect, & more

Fresh new expansions, big-name characters, and next-gen upgrades are coming to Marvel’s Avengers. The game’s 2021 roadmap has been revealed thanks to the Spring 2021 Square Enix Presents presentation, and several familiar faces will soon be joining the fray, including Hawkeye, Taskmaster, and Black Panther.

Coming in March is the Operation: Hawkeye Future Imperfect expansion. As you’d guess from the title, Marvel’s own sharpshooter Clint Barton will be the focus of a new time-bending storyline. As showcased in the presentation, the action seems to focus around Taskmaster, a longtime Avengers villain with the ability to replicate nearly any form of hand-to-hand-combat.

Hawkeye’s new story content also coincides with a few new features, notably the customizable HARM Room and the Reassemble Campaign Replay. And, as revealed in February, there will also be a free next-gen upgrade for players who purchased Marvel’s Avengers on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Marvel's Avengers 2021 roadmap - planned expansions and content

While details beyond that were fairly light, we did at least get a look at the Marvel’s Avengers 2021 roadmap. Spring will introduce the Tachyon Anomaly event, which will allow players to combine their favorite heroes for the first time. And before the season is over, the Red Room Takeover event will offer new outfits and new HARM Room content.

Loads of DLC is planned for summer and beyond, too. Story content surrounding the Cosmic Cube, a new Patrol Mode mission type, post level-50 progression missions, and MCU-inspired costumes are all on the docket. Plus, the development team will be working on tweaks to balance, matchmaking, and gear, in addition to a collectible comics system.

And, before the year is over, Square Enix plans to launch the War for Wakanda expansion focused on none other than Black Panther. This expansion will also bring villains like Ulysses Klaue and his Klaw Faction of foes, a new Wakandan Jungle biome, additional hero outfits, and a new outpost.

For now, specific release dates on expansions, heroes, costumes, and events haven’t been revealed. Still, the 2021 roadmap for Marvel’s Avengers shows that the team at Square Enix is hard at work making sure Marvel fans never run short of fresh content and storylines. Considering the game’s less-than-stellar launch, these are all welcome additions.
