What could a Young Avengers movie release date be? Is the MCU setting up a Young Avengers movie, or even perhaps a Disney Plus series instead? It certainly seems to be that way, given the number of younger heroes either appearing in shows like Hawkeye or appearing in Marvel projects over the next year or so. If so, what would the Young Avengers movie character roster be like — and when can fans expect to see them?
Which Young Avengers movie characters would be in the line-up?
The Young Avengers is a team of young Marvel heroes that have some connection to the core Avengers team and are sometimes styled in their image. The team specifically called “Young Avengers” was introduced in 2005 and has had a number of different line-ups over the years. Here are all the team’s possible members based on current or recent MCU movies and Disney Plus shows that Marvel could include in a Young Avengers movie.
KATE BISHOP/HAWKEYE
- Played by: Hailee Steinfeld
- First appearance: Hawkeye (2021)
- Kate Bishop forcibly added herself to the Young Avengers team in the comic after saving them and has occasionally been the team’s leader. Hailee Steinfeld is currently appearing in the Hawkeye Disney Plus series, which is going from strength to strength with Steinfeld impressing fans. Most notably, she was asked about the possibility of a Young Avengers project in a recent video interview, prompting her to check with Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige — who gave her a stare that went viral.

AMERICA CHAVEZ/MISS AMERICA
- Played by: Xochitl Gomez
- First appearance: Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
- Miss America joined the Young Avengers in the comics in 2013 and has the power of flight, strength, and the ability to create portals between time, space, and even dimensions. Xochitl Gomez will play America Chavez in the next Doctor Strange movie and fans got their first look at her costume in a LEGO set today.
IRONHEART/RIRI WILLIAMS
- Played by: Dominique Thorne
- First appearance: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022)
- The heir to Tony Stark’s Iron Man, Riri Williams first appeared in 2016 and will be getting her own Disney Plus series played by Dominique Thorne in 2023, although the character will actually make her debut in movie sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in November 2022.
MS. MARVEL/KAMALA KHAN
- Played by: Iman Vellani
- First appearance: Ms. Marvel (2022)
- The eagerly awaited Ms. Marvel Disney Plus series will debut next year and introduce the world to Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan before she appears in the Captain Marvel movie sequel The Marvels. While Kamala has never been part of the Young Avengers, she was team leader of fellow teen superhero team the Champions alongside Riri Williams and the new Spider-Man.
MILES MORALES/SPIDER-MAN
- Played by: ??
- First appearance: Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)?
- While initially introduced as the Spider-Man of an alternate dimension, Miles Morales has since become another Spider-Man of the core Marvel universe alongside Peter Parker. In the MCU, he was mentioned in Spider-Man: Homecoming and may very well be heading up his own trilogy of movies following the departure of Tom Holland.
WICCAN & SPEED/TOMMY & BILLY MAXIMOFF
- Played by: Julian Hilliard/Jett Klyne
- First appearance: WandaVision (2021)
- The sons of Wanda Maximoff and Vision are core members of the Young Avengers team in the comics, and fans were delighted to see them in WandaVision earlier this year. They were very young there but were also fake, and the final episode’s post-credits scene suggested that Wanda would be searching the multiverse to find them again — which will happen in Doctor Strange 2 in May 2022.
What is the Young Avengers release date for the movie?
A release date for a Young Avengers movie or even series is uncertain but it likely won’t happen until at least 2024, because the current MCU release schedule is full until late 2023. It also depends on which characters the MCU is going to go with — Riri Williams won’t get a series until 2023 and Miles Morales hasn’t even been cast yet if he’s joining at all. Fans will have to wait and see, but it likely won’t be too long otherwise the actors will be too old to play “young” Avengers. Expect Young Avengers to be announced in 2022.
