Nintendo 3DS Hardware And Software (Pokémon) Chew Up Sales Charts In October

With October, Nintendo 3DS has held down the top-spot in video game hardware sales for six straight months, moving over 450,000 units of dual-screened (or mono-screened) portable heaven. I don't think you need even two guesses to find the answer to October's top-selling software.

Both Pokémon X & Y sold more than 1.7 million units combined and I'm sure that number included more than a few fresh 3DS owners who've been waiting patiently for the next chapter in their favorite series.

Just… I mean, come on. I understand if you'll never buy a 3DS because you wouldn't have the time to enjoy a portable or you prefer your PC or you big screen TV. Totally get it, but at least admit how enviable 3DS owners have been for all the software this year. I can't believe that 2013 actually started with Fire Emblem: Awakening.

Then there was Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (review), Animal Crossing: New Leaf (review), Shin Megami Tensei IV (review), October's Pokémon games (review), and November's Mario Party (review incoming), and fantastic Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (review). If your significant other, parents, dog, roomie, whoever scoffed at your proposal to buy a new next-gen console to share (of course), try the 3DS at half the price and overflowing with amazing games.

Or, you know, try the new Wii U console after seeing the latest Wii U commercial. Microsoft and Sony will certainly move hardware this fall, but I think Nintendo 3DS can claim 2013 with this impressive streak.
