Resident Evil Village is finally out and fans of the franchise are uncovering all of its juicy secrets. Since RE8 has a lot in common with the series’ fourth mainline entry, many players are wondering if Leon S. Kennedy makes an appearance. So, is Leon in Resident Evil 8? Here’s the need-to-know for those that can’t wait to find out for themselves. Naturally, spoilers ahead!
Is Leon S. Kennedy in RE8?
Chris Redfield returns to play a major role in Resident Evil Village. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for Leon Scott Kennedy as the iconic Resi character is not in RE8.
Although Leon features in Resident Evil 2 (2019), the character hasn’t made an appearance since RE6 — chronologically speaking. That’s a long hiatus for a fan-favorite character, prompting many to speculate that Leon would appear in Resi Village.
The theory was sound, what with Village and RE4 sharing a lot of common ground; settings, characters, and gameplay systems are all intentionally comparable. When paying homage to perhaps Leon’s best-loved outing, what better time would there be to reintroduce the character? Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be this time around.
Interestingly, Resident Evil 8 was originally going to feature Ada Wong as a side character. Leon and Ada share an ongoing love/hate relationship and it’d be somewhat strange to see one without the other. While there’s been no official confirmation, this could indicate that plans were in place for Leon S. Kenedy to appear in RE8 at some point in time.
Is Leon in Resident Evil 8? No, but there could have been plans for him to appear alongside Ada Wong.
