The Ascent Cheat Engine

Is using The Ascent with Cheat Engine safe?

The Accent launched today on PC, and players are wondering whether it’s safe to use Cheat Engine in the game or not. Most multiplayer games include anti-cheat software which makes it unsafe to use Cheat Engine. However, it can be tough to figure out which single-player, and co-op games allow for safe usage of the program.

Can you use Cheat Engine with The Ascent safely?

Players can use Cheat Engine to change a player’s stats, inventory, damage, and all sorts of valuable things. Given that The Ascent has co-op multiplayer, there may be some caveats to using Cheat Engine. We’re not aware of any anti-cheat software included with The Ascent, but since it has online connectivity, one should be careful.

Additionally, Cheat Engine will likely work as usual with the Steam version of the game, but the Xbox Game Pass for PC edition may cause some issues. Games installed from that service are “Windows Apps” and run in a sort of sandbox, which prevents even an admin from making changes to them by default. This may stop Cheat Engine from making the modifications necessary to produce the desired effect.

Like with any cheat program, using Cheat Engine isn’t ever 100% safe. At the bare minimum, the game may lock up. If anti-cheat software detects Cheat Engine, it will simply refuse to launch in the best case. In the worst case, someone might get their Xbox or Steam accounts banned. Those who have received bans for cheats before should be especially careful since they’re that much more likely to receive a permanent ban if caught using Cheat Engine.

Unfortunately, there’s no definitive answer on whether or not players can use Cheat Engine with The Ascent safely. So for now, the safest thing to do is wait and see if others have success with it.
