Is there an Aliens: Fireteam Elite single-player option? There is a full Aliens: Fireteam Elite story campaign that can be played through with up to three players, but can it be completed with only one player? Is there support for a Aliens: Fireteam Elite solo mode, perhaps with bots? Most importantly, is it actually possible to play through the Aliens: Fireteam Elite campaign in single-player — or is it just too difficult to complete the game this way? Here’s what players need to know.
Is there an Aliens: Fireteam Elite single-player campaign option?
The full campaign of Aliens: Fireteam Elite is indeed available to play in single-player mode, although it is not the optimal way to play the game and players may struggle to make it through the tougher areas of the campaign.
If players want to take on the Aliens: Fireteam Elite campaign solo, then they can simply head into the missions with matchmaking turned off in the options menu. They won’t be completely on their own, however, as two AI bots will take the place of the player’s teammates. In a rather neat design choice, developer Cold Iron Studios makes these bots Aliens-style combat androids that bleed white blood, so canonically the player is not playing with other human marines.
The one important note about playing Aliens: Fireteam Elite in single-player is that the player will have a far tougher challenge facing them than they would with other human players by their side. There’s no way to command the bots, and even then they simply aren’t as good at watching the player’s back, covering areas, and making as good a use of equipment as other human players would. The bots are acceptable, but not as fun to play with as friends or even random humans, so trying to play Aliens: Fireteam Elite in single-player means missing a lot of the experience.
