Aliens Fireteam Elite voice chat

Is there Aliens: Fireteam Elite voice chat?

Is there an Aliens: Fireteam Elite voice chat function? The latest game in the Aliens franchise is out today and is a co-op-focused online shooter where three players take on the xenomorphs, so it really makes sense for there to be some sort of Aliens: Fireteam Elite chat function. Is there even some form of Aliens: Fireteam Elite text chat? If not, how are players supposed to communicate in Cold Iron Studios’ new Aliens title? Let’s see.

Does Aliens: Fireteam Elite have voice chat?

Aliens Fireteam Elite voice chat

There is no built-in voice or text chat of any kind with Aliens: Fireteam Elite, at least at launch, but it is possible that Cold Iron Studios will add the functionality later. Alternatively, players can create chat lobbies outside of the game on consoles or on Steam and use voice chat that way, or by using Teamspeak or Discord. Currently, the only way to communicate in Aliens: Fireteam Elite itself is by using the ping function or emotes — most of which have to be bought or unlocked before they can be used.

Players certainly seem upset at the lack of any sort of chat function in what is essentially a multiplayer game, especially a co-op game which often requires other players to give assistance. There is no way for a player to ask a medic or another character to heal them, for example. The similar co-op-focused Back 4 Blood had a beta recently that had full voice and text chat as well as a ping function, so it’s surprising that Aliens: Fireteam Elite does not.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite is out now with twelve missions and a horde mode for groups of players to undertake, and while the game is not without problems right now — such as the matchmaking, which isn’t working for some — the developers plan to offer a year’s worth of support for free, which is good news.
