Has the DokeV release date been revealed? The Pokemon-like open-world action-adventure game got a big re-reveal at Gamescom opening night live this week, but when is DokeV coming out? Has a DokeV 2022 release been confirmed for the quirky upcoming creature-collection game, or should potential fans be expecting an even further out release of 2023 or beyond? Here’s what developer Pearl Abyss says about the game’s release date and what it might be.
Has the DokeV release date been confirmed?
The DokeV release date has been confirmed as 2023 or beyond.
Initial reports suggested that DokeV would release in 2022, but developer Pearl Abyss confirmed in a correction to VentureBeat’s article about the game that the team is targeting a release for sometime after 2022. The press release is even less helpful, saying that the team “will announce its release window later.” No matter what, it’s going to be a long wait for any new fans eager to play the surprise star reveal of Gamescom.
The good news is that the team has at least confirmed DokeV would be coming to both PC and consoles, although what consoles the developer means is another matter — the game certainly looks good enough to be only on PS5 and Xbox Series X, and a 2023 release date would mean a lot more people would have new consoles by then.
PC and consoles!

Pearl Abyss also confirmed that DokeV is no longer an MMO like its previous game Black Desert Online, which is how the game was originally announced. Instead, it’s an open-world action-adventure — although it may possibly still have multiplayer elements, which Pearl Abyss doesn’t rule out.
#DokeV was initially introduced as an MMO, but we decided to move the game in a different direction and it's now a creature-collecting open world action-adventure.
But regardless of genre, we're going for fun, vibrant, and adventurous! 🦙☂️

For those who can’t wait until 2023 for DokeV, Nintendo has Pokemon Legends: Arceus coming out in January 2022, which is also an open-world creature-collector game — albeit one exclusive to Nintendo Switch — and has finally added the ability to ride Pokemon into battle.
