Pokemon Legends: Arceus adds mounts, lets you ride Pokemon

Pokemon Legends: Arceus mounts have been revealed, introducing the ability to ride Pokemon. These mounts include a selection of new Pokemon added to the game, from regional variants specific to Legends’ Hisuian region, to new evolutions. The new mounts were revealed during today’s Pokemon Presents presentation, showing how trainers will be able to hop onto their Pokemon in order to ride them across land, sea, and air.

Here’s the full list of Pokemon Legends: Arceus mounts that have been revealed so far:

  • Wyrdeer
  • Basculegion
  • Hisuian Braviary

Wyrdeer is a Stantler evolution, who has evolved as a result of the strong conditions in the Hisui region. It is described as having strong ties with the locals of the region, and has been respected through ancient times. Basculegion has a darker origin story, with this being an evolution specific to the Hisui region that is possessed by the restless souls of other Basculin who have perished during their journey upstream. Hisuian Braviary is a new form of Braviary, with it being a psychic Pokemon that comes to the region in the winter.

Players have been able to technically ride Pokemon before, with abilities such as Surf and Fly allowing them to be taken to new areas of most games when taught to specific Pokemon. However, this is the first time that players will have received full control over the Pokemon they choose to ride, similar to many other open-world RPG games. This is but one of many interesting changes being employed in this spin-off from the mainline Pokemon series, with it also being revealed that players will be able to participate in boss battles where Pokemon actually attack trainers.

Elsewhere in the Pokemon Presents presentation, Sylveon was revealed as the latest character to be added to Pokemon Unite. Mamoswime was also announced for the MOBA.
