Fans of the original game will be glad to know that Diablo 2: Resurrected isn’t a remake or a reboot. Instead, it’s a modernization of one of Blizzard’s most beloved titles. Basically, it’s the same as the original running in a new engine that allows things like 3D graphics, better physics, improved animations, dynamic lighting, and more. Also new is the Dolby 7.1 Surround sound, which opens the aural landscape of the game significantly.
Quality of life updates have also been made with Diablo 2: Resurrected. There’s a shared item stash, so there’s no more need to awkwardly launch the game twice and trade between two characters in a LAN session (or use a separate computer). There are also things like auto-looting gold that can be turned on and off and streamlined matchmaking and player invites.
The only part of the game that’s been remade is the cutscenes. However, they’re shot-by-shot remakes, so nothing has been added or removed. That means every bit of the epic story is intact and ready to be enjoyed by old and new fans alike.
