Elden Ring Crossplay: Can PlayStation, Xbox, and PC play together?

Just like Dark Souls and Bloodborne, FromSoftware’s Elden Ring features online multiplayer. With cross-platform support gaining more widespread adoption, many players are wondering if Elden Ring crossplay is a thing. Is it possible for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC users to play together? Here’s the latest on the status of cross-platform cooperative play and competitive PvP invasions in the “Soulsborne” successor.

Is Elden Ring crossplay on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC?

Elden Ring has cross-gen multiplayer, enabling PS5 and PS4 users to play together and Xbox Series X|S users to play with Xbox One owners.

Elden Ring does not have full cross-platform support; PlayStation, Xbox, and PC users can’t crossplay between platforms.

Publisher Bandai Namco broke the bad news when announcing the terms of its Elden Ring Network Test. It is worth noting, however, that the free trial isn’t necessarily representative of the final game’s crossplay status. There is a chance that Elden Ring cross-platform play could feature in the final product, though not be active during the demo. While the omission could cause disappointment, it simply might not factor into FromSoftware’s public testing goals.

Elden Ring features co-op multiplayer, though it isn’t yet clear if competitive PvP invasions will make a comeback. As ever, the dev team at From likes to maintain an air of mystery — fans are still left wondering if there’s a direct Dark Souls connection.

The upcoming Elden Ring Network Test is the first chance for players to experience the open-world RPG for themselves. Unfortunately, the trial version doesn’t feature crossplay and that could be a sign of things to come. In a similarly disappointing fashion, there is no Elden Ring Network Test PC version. It’s an odd choice, considering that the game is launching on computers alongside the console versions on February 25, 2022.
