call of duty vanguard stuck on compiling shaders fix

Call of Duty Vanguard: Stuck on compiling shaders fix

Call of Duty: Vanguard‘s opening screen begins with the message: ‘Compiling shaders to optimize performance during gameplay.’ While this message is displayed, CoD: Vanguard players will sit through the game installing packs, even after the game has seemingly fully installed. Some players may find that it won’t stop compiling shaders, so is there a fix for this on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PS4?

How to fix CoD: Vanguard stuck on compiling shaders error

call of duty vanguard stuck on compiling shaders fix

Call of Duty: Vanguard is compiling shaders to make the game look as impressive as it possibly can, with it downloading a number of shader packs beyond the initial install. However, if it seems stuck, then there are fortunately three potential ways in which you can fix the issue:

Repair your files

  • Go to the Battle.net launcher
  • Select Call of Duty: Vanguard
  • Click the ‘Options’ wheel
  • Select ‘Scan and Repair’

By scanning and repairing your files, any missing or damaged files that may be interrupting the shader installation process will be rectified. This could resolve your issue.

Reinstall the game

  • Completely uninstall CoD: Vanguard from your game library
  • Reinstall it

While uninstalling and reinstalling may seem obvious, for console players on the likes of the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, this is the most likely fix. While there can be a number of reasons why a PC installation is struggling, there’s typically only one fix on consoles, and that’s the equivalent of turning it on or off again.

Restart the shader compilation

  • Go to Settings in Call of Duty: Vanguard
  • Select Graphics
  • Select Restart Shader Compilation

This will delete your shader cache and restart all compilations from the beginning. This means that if the compilation has got stuck during the installation process, this may rectify it.

Outside of these fixes, it’s also always worthwhile making sure your GPU drivers are up to date on PC, as this rectifies most graphics-related issues.

In other news, Kingdom Hearts 4 has been potentially leaked for a 2023 release. Elder Scrolls 6 was also seemingly leaked with a release date, too.
