Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury Release Date and How to Watch

We’re close to the release date of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury episode 1 and fans are anxious for the first Gundam series in seven years. This series has been shrouded in mystery, but Bandai-Namco Group is gearing up for a massive push, calling it a “larger-scale deployment than ever before. So, this might be the biggest Gundam series yet.

The Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury release date is October 2022. It will be part of the Fall 2022 anime season and air in Japan on MBS and TBS in the 5 p.m. slot. Additionally, a Prologue episode 0 will air this month, but general release info for it isn’t available yet.

We don’t know how many episodes Gundam: The Witch from Mercury will have. Gundam series tend to run long, so we may see as many as 50 episodes drop. If this is the case, we’ll likely see 25 episodes released in the first season, with the second 25 coming a year later in a second season.

We do know that The Witch from Mercury won’t be a continuation of a previous Gundam timeline. It starts a new continuity and takes place in A.S. (Ad Stella) 122. The protagonist, Suletta Mercury, transfers to the Asticassia School of Technology, which is run by the Beneritt Group, one of the huge corporations that have commercialized space. She’s a shy girl that pilots the Gunda, Aerial, which looks to be the main mecha of the series.

How to watch The Witch from Mercury outside Japan

The Gundam franchise has never been available on one streaming platform. There’s a series here, a movie there, and it can be confusing for those who want to enjoy Gundam as a whole. It’s really anyone’s guess where The Witch from Mercury will be available for streaming. We may see Netflix pay to obtain the viewing rights for the series as they did with Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean, or it may hit Crunchyroll. Hopefully, we’ll hear more details of an English release in the coming months.
