Rumor: Nintendo Direct February To Reveal Mario Kart 9, Fire Emblem, and More

A Nintendo Direct February 2022 stream presentation is being heavily rumored online, along with possible Mario Kart 9 leaks that suggest that Nintendo is ready to finally show off the long-awaited next iteration in its racing franchise, which hasn’t had an entry since the Switch re-release of 2014’s Mario Kart 8. There are also rumors of a Batman Arkham Switch collection, a new Fire Emblem Switch game, and more.

Nintendo Direct February 2022: Mario Kart 9, Batman, Fire Emblem rumored

According to various leaks, a Nintendo Direct live stream for February could be happening as soon as next week, and already there have been rumors of games such as a new Mario Kart and Fire Emblem title alongside a Batman Arkham Collection Switch release. Nintendo has historically held a Nintendo Direct February stream so it seems very likely the rumors are correct and they may one again this month.

Here are some possible games that are rumored for the show:

• Mario Kart 9: This is the strongest rumor, and the only Mario Kart game on Switch is a re-release of the Wii U entry that came out eight years ago, so fans are overdue for the next game.
• Batman Arkham Collection: A Switch re-release of Rocksteady’s three Batman games is rumored and actually appeared on a French website this week, with a release date of August 2022. It seems highly it will get a reveal at the show.
• Fire Emblem: A new Fire Emblem game releases every 3-4 years and it’s been three years since Three Houses on Switch, so this is possible.
• Destiny 2: Some leakers have suggested Destiny 2 could be ported to Switch using Stadia tech, so this may get announced.

Beyond this, there may be more on Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3, and maybe even Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2, the latter of which Nintendo actually apologized for not featuring it in last February’s show. Hopefully all the details should be revealed soon, if the Nintendo Direct is indeed happening this month.
