A big question going into Amazon’s streaming hit The Boys Season 3 is whether or not Homelander is a Nazi. After all, he was dating a bonafide former member of the Nazi Party that wanted him to lead an army of Aryan superheroes and take over the world. While he didn’t necessarily encourage Stormfront’s rhetoric (other than that which was praising him), he didn’t exactly shut her down either. So, what’s the deal?
Is Homelander a white supremacist or a Nazi in The Boys?
Homelander isn’t a Nazi in The Boys. We don’t see that he’s a part of any neo-Nazi movement, and he doesn’t show any inclination toward any particular tenet of National Socialism. He does show proclivities toward fascism, but that’s likely more of a symptom of his megalomania than a political leaning.
Despite his romance with Stormfront, he’s also not a white supremacist. He’s a Homelander supremacist. He didn’t stop Stormfront from spewing her rhetoric because it fueled her adoration of him, and that’s what he craves. He simultaneously thinks he’s better than every other human but also needs a constant stream of affection.
However, Homelander would almost certainly align himself with Nazis or white supremacists if it suited his purposes. The only person he cares about is himself, and despite being the most physically powerful human alive, his real desire is to hold sway over people’s minds and hearts. If he thought that becoming a Nazi would help that goal more than hinder it, he’d likely do it in a heartbeat.
While Homelander likes to think he can do anything he wants, he’s on an increasingly short leash, and his interests will continue to align with Voight International’s for the foreseeable future. However, suppose Homelander continues to embarrass the company. In that case, he might find himself out on his own for the first time in his life. If that happens, there’s no telling what movements he might involve himself in.
