Fall Guys Servers Down After Overwhelming Free-to-Play Launch

Fall Guys went free-to-play on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC today, June 21. The launch has been so overwhelmingly popular that the servers are struggling to cope with the strain and players are now having problems with matchmaking. Mediatonic is aware of the problems and is trying to fix them as we speak.

Why are the Fall Guys servers down?

While there is not an official site to track the Fall Guys server status, many third-party sites are reporting the game having problems. In a Twitter statement, Mediatonic said “we are aware that some players are unable to matchmake right now!” Allegedly, the person running the Twitter account baked a cake, dropped it on the servers, and is now “cleaning up the frosting from the computery bits“. Apparently “a lot of the frosting dried so this is taking some time to clean up” and they “also added ants thinking they’d eat the frosting but it made the problem worse”. While I would like to think that is true, the real reason why the Fall Guys queue time is extremely high, it is more likely that the servers are struggling to cope with the large number of players trying to get into the game on its free-to-play launch day.

As well as the free-to-play launch, the Fall Guys new season brings brand new rounds such as Hex-a-Ring and Speed Circuit, each filled with new obstacles like the ticking time-bomb Blast Balls, the Jump Rope, and Bouncy Castles. The Season Pass will offer new costumes, emotes, celebrations, and other rewards for players to unlock across 100 levels. You can find the full patch notes on all of the new features and the bug fixes and gameplay improvements on the Fall Guys website.

In other news, the new Fortnite The Nindo event is offering Naruto-themed rewards for completing in-game challenges from today. Elsewhere, DrDisrespect has said he took his ban from Call of Duty personally.
