Is There Max Headroom Reboot Release Date

Is There a Max Headroom Reboot Release Date?

Fans are wondering when the Max Headroom reboot release date is. The AMC drama will be produced by Elijah Wood’s SpectreVision and will feature the original actor, Matt Frewer, in the titular role. So h-h-how long do we have to wait to see the pop icon again, Cokeologists?

When is the Max Headroom release date?

No release date has been announced yet for the Max Headroom reboot. Deadline’s reveal of the show reads as if it’s in the early stage of pre-production. Aside from Frewer’s return as Max Headroom and SpectreVision’s involvement, no details have been released about the show.

However, it’s important to note this is a reboot of the ABC drama, not the Channel 4 music video program. As such, we can imagine that it’ll be a satirical take on modern society set in a near-future cyberpunk world. Fortunately for the writers, we’re living in an even more imposing corpocracy than when the series premiered in 1987. So, they can probably dust off some old scripts and get right to making episodes like the series never ended.

Given the fate of the original TV show, it seems somewhat strange to revive Max Headroom. It debuted as a mid-season replacement in 1987. However, ABC would cancel it halfway through its second season in 1988. At this point, he’s is known more for his cameos and the signal hijacking incident than the two TV shows which spawned him.

Ironically, a reboot would seem like something that would be satirized on Max Headroom. The majority of TV shows and movies are sequels, reboots, or spin-offs at this point, and it seems like studios are really vying for bottom-of-the-barrel properties at this point. The one thing that gives us hope is that SpectreVision has produced some great stuff, and it might put a unique spin on the reboot that makes it something special.
