As the final days of September tick by, Netflix has got a few surprises up its sleeve for subscribers. Comedy, reality TV, high-stakes documentaries, and a highly-anticipated fictionalized Marilyn Monroe movie are all among what you can expect to see come to the streaming platform over the next seven days. Here are all of the new TV shows and films coming to Netflix between September 26, 2022, and October 2, 2022.
What is coming to Netflix this week (September 26-October 2)?
The biggest Netflix release this month is the movie Blonde. Ana de Armas stars in the lead role of Marilyn Monroe, with Andrew Dominik (Chopper, Killing Them Softly) serving as writer and director, basing the feature on the 2000 novel of the same name by Joyce Carol Oates. Much of the film is presented in black and white, with some portions set in color, along with shifting aspect ratios to present something truly unique to audiences. Early reviews are mixed, with some praising the new take on Monroe’s life as refreshing, while others find it to be dehumanizing and exploitative. It appears that this is a movie that has to be seen by those who are interested, so they can make up their own mind.
If that sounds a little too heavy, comedian Nick Kroll takes to the stage for a stand-up special, where he shares his comedy origin story, along with tales of heartbreak, hypnosis, and the trash-talking celebrity voice in his head. If you watch this and wonder where you’ve heard Kroll’s voice before, he takes on a number of roles in the adult animated Netflix series Big Mouth, and also played Douche in the 2016 comedy Sausage Party. He’s sure to make you crack a smile!
