Angry Birds developer Rovio has spoken out to tout the massive success its bird-launching game has been for the company.
According to the studio, the monthly player count is up to 200 million, which, believe it or not, is actually the same size as Twitter's audience. Not only that, but the insanely popular game has been downloaded over two billion times.
During the Pocket Gamer Connects conference, Rovio CMO Peter Vesterbacka had the following to say:
If you look at Rovio and what we've done over four years, there are now two billion copies of Angry Birds out there.
Download figures tell you nothing about engagement, but we still have 200 million people playing Angry Birds every month, the size of the Twitter audience.
Do you think the Angry Birds franchise will be around for a long time, or will it end up proving to be nothing more than a highly successful fad that dies out in a few years' time?
